The father of the late Hollywood star Paul Walker has revealed that he has become a near recluse as he continues to struggle to come to terms with his son’s untimely death almost four years later.In an emotional interview with Dailymail.com, Paul Walker Sr. spoke as The Fate of the Furious, the first film in the series that features the original cast without the late actor, continues to dominate the box office worldwide.The action movie featuring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Charlize Theron and Vin Diesel has raked in over $100million to date globally, as the franchise continues to grow. But Walker Sr. admitted that he is still struggling to accept the death of his son and was in two minds whether to see the new movie.‘I’m pretty much a bit of a recluse, I don’t go out as much anymore because Paul’s death took a lot out of me,’ Walker Sr. said at his Los Angeles home.‘I’ve got my good friends, who I stay in touch with, and they’ve been so supportive and nice to me. The best way I know how to look at it is that God just took him home. That’s the biggest comfort I can find.’The devastated father keeps his son’s memory alive by writing things Paul use to say in a journal.‘Paul’s death has changed me though for the better. I’ve become much more considerate, just like he was. I’m more considerate of people and I realized some of the things he said…I keep a journal and I remember the things Paul said when he was a little fellow and write them down.‘I can’t believe how profound he was when he was so young. And they were totally original thoughts that came from him. He’d figured them out himself.In fact, I think he was very capable of looking inside himself. I remember he once said, and it’s one thing that I wrote down, “I love very deeply.” And he meant that. It’s memories like that, which help me get through the day.’Walker said he did eventually watch the latest movie after rallying friends, and he believes his son, who died in a car crash in 2013, would’ve been delighted that the film franchise continued on without him.‘I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to see it,’ he said. ‘But when I did, thankfully I was surrounded by friends, some who knew Paul since when he was a little kid, and it was really wonderful.‘We all really liked it, it was a very fun movie. You know, I think Paul would’ve loved it. I can see him saying to me, “Dad, you gotta see it, it’s crazy.” That’s exactly what he would’ve said.‘I think the cast and the directors did Paul proud. I hope the cast all become a bunch of old, toothless men before they stop making them. Paul would be very happy that they made another one.’That’s all he wanted, he wanted it to be just fun. His thinking was Fast & Furious had to be just fun.’Walker praised the performances of his son’s former co-stars in the new film.
